Description
Originally released in 1971, Sticky Fingers is the most famous Stones album cover. The famed cover design came about after Andy Warhol mentioned to Mick Jagger at a party in New York that it would be amusing to have a real zipper on an album cover. Warhol took the cover shot. Although many assumed that the model on the cover is Jagger, it has often been rumored to be a hanger on from Warhol’s studio named Joe Dallesandro. The zipper idea turned out to be a nightmare because during shipping the zipper would press into the album stacked on top of it (damaging the song “Sister Morphine.”) After threats of legal action by Atlantic Records, an idea was reached: pull the zipper down before the album was shipped, then it would only dent the label. Sticky Fingers is also the first Stones album to feature the Stones logo, the red lips and tongue.
